The full carrier service, which recently merged with Vistara, will now be referred to as Air India, according to Campbell Wilson, the company’s chief executive officer, who made the announcement on Monday.
Singapore Airlines’ presence in the Indian market will be boosted by the merger with Air India, and it will also be able to compete in the rapidly growing aviation industry.
“With a significant presence in all of India’s major airline segments, the combined company will be four to five times greater in scale than Vistara. With the proposed merger, Singapore Airlines’ position in India will be strengthened, its multi-hub strategy will be strengthened, and it will be able to continue directly competing in this big and quickly expanding aviation market “according to a statement from Singapore Airlines.
