Both Vistara and Akasa Air are keen to make their mark at the new Goa International airport.
Akasa Air & Vistara are looking to make their mark at the recently opened Manohar International Airport (GOX). Both airlines are advertising for ground staff at the Goa airport and are eager to introduce new routes to Goa’s second airport.
Akasa Air and Vistara
Manohar International Airport, also known as Mopa, is ready to begin operations on January 5th next year 2023. First, IndiGo, and then Oman Air have already declared routes. Go First plans to operate 42 weekly flight services from the airport, IndiGo will introduce 168 weekly operations from January 5th next year 2023, and Oman Air will connect to Muscat from next year February.

The new Goa airport will be built in 4 stages, with the 1st complete. The airport will supplement operations with the existing Goa Dabolim Airport (GOI), which has no current plans to close.
The airport has been built with the future in mind and can manage the Boeing 777. The proposed carriers planning to operate at the Goa airport will mainly be narrow bodies. However, it could be only a matter of time before long-haul flights arrive in fruition.
Akasa AIr
Akasa Air has rapidly expanded since commencing operation on August 7th, 2022, and now serves 10 destinations within India. The carrier has not formally declared to operate from Mopa; however, it has been noted that Mopa’s availability of slots could provide easy connections to Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR).

In its phase of rapid expansion, the airline currently has an order with Boeing for 54 737 MAX 200’s and an additional seven 737 MAX 8, welcoming an increase from its 11 737 MAX 8 in operation. Akasa AIr is already recruiting flight instructors and plans to make its presence known in India quickly.

Vistara
With Vistara already operating at the existing Goa Dabolim Airport to Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai, the carrier will undoubtedly look to expand its offering from Mopa.
It is unknown where the airline plans to operate. However, with its absorption into Air India, it would be exciting to see international routes on the cards.

On Vistara’s careers website, 5 roles are listed for the carrier. However, it does not stipulate at which Goa International airport. Available roles are duty managers, customer service, and security executives.
