A fight broke out between passengers and airline personnel aboard a SpiceJet flight with a Patna destination on Friday 3rd February 2023 morning at the Delhi international airport after the flight was delayed by more than two hours. The scheduled departure time from this airport’s Terminal 3 is at 7.20 am, according to a passenger who will be riding on flight 8721 between Delhi airport and Patna.

According to the passenger, the airline staff initially claimed that the aircraft was delayed due to weather issues but then blamed technical problems as the cause.

According to the passenger, several customers were upset and engaged in heated arguments with airline employees at the airport over the delay in the flight’s departure.

The departure time for the flight is now 10.10 a.m. SpiceJet did not respond to a request for comment right away.

Ministry of Civil Aviation

According to a report by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), a total of 546 technical snags were reported by various airlines in the country in the last year 2022 and Indigo airline topped the list with 215 such incidents.

As per the government data, Indigo Airlines topped the list with 215 such incidents while Spicejet and Vistara Airlines reported 143 and 97 technical snag-related occurrences in the last year 2022.

According to the data, Go Air reported seven technical difficulties compared to 64 such instances reported by Air India (Fleet A).
