Nearly 15,000 kilometers (9,300 miles) away in New Zealand, Texel Air (XLR), based in Bahrain, has announced the establishment of a sister airline there.
Texel Air
The cargo airline Texel Air was established in 2013, and its first regularly scheduled flights were conducted in 2014. One Boeing 737-300F, two Boeing 737-800BCF, and two Boeing 737-700FC Flexi Combi make up the Middle Eastern branch’s fleet, which is now in service out of Bahrain International Airport (BAH), which serves as its main hub.

To form a strategic alliance to raise money for upcoming aircraft and an expansion of operations, Texel Air and Sierra Nevada Corporation, a company based in Sparks, Nevada, signed an MOU in November of the last year 2022.
The airline’s initial global expansion phase may begin in New Zealand. It is presently seeking seasoned pilots and mechanics to join its Auckland-based team. Its New Zealand operations are expected to use Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Texel Air receiving its first Boeing 737
The growing demand for adaptable aircraft for both cargo and passengers resulted in Texel Air receiving its first Boeing 737-800BCF last year. The business was the first Middle Eastern carrier to implement the strategy to expand services amid the ongoing increase in international cargo activity.
The demand for passenger-to-freighter conversions remained high for the airline in the past year, particularly from companies with a growing presence in the express and e-commerce industries.
A former Boeing 737-800 passenger aircraft that has been converted to transport cargo is known as the Boeing 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter.
Boeing claims that the 737-800BCF can fly 2,025 nautical miles with up to 23.9 tonnes (52,800 pounds). Over the next 20 years, 1,720 freighter conversions will be required; this project aims to help with that. A cargo door that measures 3.58 m x 2.18 m, or 141 x 86 inches, can accommodate a lot of freight, of course.

Compared to 737 Classic freighters, the 737-800BCF uses 20% less fuel overall. Like a brand-new aircraft, it is backed by Boeing as well, providing Texel and other airlines with the support and adaptability they need to satisfy demand in the upcoming chapter.
