LATAM restarted flights from Buenos Aires Ezeiza to Rio de Janeiro Galeão on Friday, December 16, 2022. The route has been suspended since the spring of 2020 and will last until March. The route will supplement LATAM’s existing service to the Argentinian capital’s other airport at Aeroparque.

The new route will connect Rio de Janeiro Galeão International Airport (GIG) with Buenos Aires’ main international gateway at Ezeiza International Airport (EZE). LATAM Brasil restarted its service between Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires earlier this month with a link to Buenos Aires’ secondary airport at Jorge Newbery Airfield (AEP), commonly known as Aeroparque. Between the 2 airports, the carrier will fly 8 times a week to and from the Brazilian city during the 2022/2023 summer season, doubling the flights it had last year.

The new flight service to Rio de Janeiro Galeão International Airport (GIG) takes place 5 times a week, utilizing flight numbers 8124 and 8125. The new connection will depart on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday and have a flight time of roughly 3 hours.

Altogether, LATAM Brasil offers over 200 monthly flights between these countries. The number is almost double that of last year November 2021. According to Cerium data, the connection to and from Ezeiza will continue until next March 2023, with flights from Aeroparque continuing throughout the year.

Aerolíneas Argentinas operates the flights between

The market between Brazil and Argentina is a historically strong one. LATAM will join several other carriers on the city pair. Aerolíneas Argentinas operates the flights service between Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires at both Aeroparque and Ezeiza International Airport. PetSmart also links the Argentinian Capital with Rio from Ezeiza, as does Emirates with its 4-times in weekly Boeing 777 flight from Dubai to Rio de Janeiro with onward service to Buenos Aires.

LATAM Airlines Group

LATAM Airlines Group expects to end the year with a capacity of 85% of its pre-pandemic levels. The LATAM Airlines Group operates international services and domestic flights in 5 South American countries: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

In Brazil, LATAM Brasil stays the country’s top airline in terms of passengers carried, according to the latest data from the government, with over 23 million passengers traveling with the carrier between January and October 2022. The Brazilian carrier will operate around 3,200 extra flights on its domestic and international routes during the current high season.
