To its non-flying staff who are above 40, Air India makes another voluntary retirement offer

The most recent offer from Air India will be open to permanent general cadre officers who have attained the age of 40 or older and finished at least five years of continuous service with the airline.

Air India offered voluntary retirement

Following the Tata Group’s acquisition of the struggling airline in January of last year, Air India made a voluntary retirement offer to its non-flying workers on March 17. This was the second such offer made by the airline since that time.

According to a message, the most recent offer will be open to permanent general cadre officers who are 40 years of age or older and have worked for the airline for a minimum of five years continuously.

Also, workers in the administrative and unskilled categories who have accrued a minimum of five years of continuous service are eligible.

The promotion is valid through April 30

According to sources, the most recent voluntary retirement offer will be available to a total of about 2,100 employees. With both flying and non-flying employees, the airline currently employs around 11,000 people overall.

Air India started the voluntary retirement offer in June 2022 and has already completed it.

Employees have asked to add other permanent employees to the list of those who can make use of the voluntary retirement perk. Suresh Dutt Tripathi, the airline’s chief human resources officer, stated as much in an email to the workers on Friday. “Air India is launching the second phase of the voluntary retirement offer in reaction to this,” he added.

The ex-gratia payment is a one-time bonus that will be given to the employees who file for voluntary retirement between 17 March 2023 and 30 April 2023.

“Eligible employees who apply up until March 31, 2023, will receive 1 lakh above and above the ex-gratia payment,” the notification stated.

Both flying and non-flying staff members were included in the first phase of the voluntary retirement offer. According to the sources, approximately 1,500 of the 4,200 eligible employees at the time chose to accept the offer.
